Essential oil produced by steam distillation of the dry leaves, it is an amber or dark orange liquid, with a sweet, rich, herbaceous earthly odour. It improves with age.

It blends well with vetivert, sandalwood, cedarwood, geranium, clove, lavender, rose, neroli, bergamot, clary sage.
